About

In the words of Keala Settle in The Greatest Showman, “This is me!”

My name is Catherine Davis. I am a native English freelance translator living in a rural village in South Wales, with my husband, two sons and a crazy chocolate cocker spaniel.

I translate from French and Spanish to English. I offer translation, proofreading, revision, MTPE, transcription and subtitling. I specialise in SaaS marketing texts and texts related to tourism, food and drink, hospitality and contemporary design furniture.

I am an Affiliate Member of the Institute of Translators and Interpreters (ITI), Associate of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in the United Kingdom, and a Kató Verified Translator.

Translation involves crafting a text which conveys the nuances and meaning of your text, to express the message to your new audience in clear, concise language.

It is my job to help you to communicate clearly with your audience in English, so that you can share the unique identity, personality, and qualities of your brand.

In 2018, I embarked on a part-time MA in Translation Studies at Cardiff University as a mature student and graduated with Distinction in 2021.

I originally studied at the University of Bristol, receiving BA Hons in Modern Languages: French and Spanish, followed by a PGCE in Secondary Education.

After university, I worked in hospitality management at home and abroad for ten years before working in project management and logistics in the bespoke European furniture industry. Whether talking to customers, guests, staff, or furniture manufacturers, languages and informal translation were crucial skills throughout my career.

Since founding CAT Davis Translation in 2021, I have collaborated with a variety of LSPs and direct clients, working from Spanish and French to English. I have also volunteered for Translators Without Borders and UN Volunteering.

I am also a keen runner and completed the Mont Saint Michel Marathon in 2017!
